I have come across a new website and I am obsessed with it. I love rabbit holes, let alone British rabbit holes. This website is devoted entirely to British reality TV, which right now has been a release for me. British reality TV occupies a small space in my head because of the concepts, honestly. I mean American reality TV is good, but its more extreme and exaggerated at times. Not to say that British reality TV is any different, the UK just does it differently.
Lets take a look at this website and then I’ll dive into my favorite shows.
So this is UK Game Shows.com, off the bat I am extremely overwhelmed and actually excited to get into this website. I didn’t do the deep dive yet, so I am still anticipating what is in the confines of this site. So I clicked on the tab “Weaver’s Weekly” which is the main blogger’s favorite show list, I’d assume. It really intrigues me to imagine the type of career you’d have where you can just write about British reality TV, or this could be a passion project. Regardless, I love this spot on the internet.
So the Weaver’s Weekly tab is still updating regularly, despite the outdated website aesthetic (which is much appreciated). I love this type of website layout. Here is Weaver’s Weekly:
Tempting Fortune
“Twelve contestants spend eighteen days hiking through the wilderness of South Africa with just basic survival gear and inadequate rations.
The show carries a prize, of £300,000 split across the group. To keep that money, the contestants are expected to resist “temptations” – a comfy bed for the night, a lift up the hill, or merely a cup of coffee. If they choose to take these offers, the prize fund will be reduced – and it’ll be reduced for everyone.”
This sounds like Naked and Afraid almost, but it gets funny because there’s this leather book called the Book of Temptation with a list of where you can find expensive hotels, food, and coffee in the area. The challenge of this show comes from the disputes between the group in how to spend the money. Some people want to preserve the money for themselves, some want to spend it lavishly on things like a Silent Disco in the middle of the forrest… ect.
Personally, if I was on this show, I would try to be as frugal as possible because whatever money is left in the pot will be distributed amongst the group at the end of the show.
Dating in the Dark
Anyway, I was watching Dating in the Dark a lot. Its a show where: “Three men and three women move into a specially constructed house where they periodically meet in a ‘dating room’. The catch is, and the more astute amongst you may have gleaned this from the title, is that the dating room is pitch black. The participants cannot see a thing, but the audience can see everything thanks to night-vision cameras.”
This by far has been one of my favorite British reality TV shows.
Anyway, I feel like all the work I put in has been paying off and God has been very good. Just trying to finish up this school year. I’m more than excited to finally get some music out. I might be dropping a single in a month or two, we’ll see how it goes.
Feel free to tell me if you find any interesting British reality TV shows, this website is sacred.
Until next week xoxo <3
