Hey, I have to apologize for not updating my blog! I have over 2,900 Russian bot spam comments to flag…
Here are some behind the scenes of my album video shoots. Hopefully I can make a couple of videos for this roll out. I want it to be really special, I’d love to do a listening party/ Movie night.
This is the longest I have went without blogging in TWO YEARS. Can you believe that these blogs have been coming out for practically two years?
I am going to try to keep a loose commitment to blog every single week.
I have been playing way too much Minecraft. This is a pipe dream, but it would be sooo dope to have a minecraft server and discord to play with you guys. I think I want to work on that next MAYBE.
More announcements, I have 5 more songs to go before I have my third album. I’ve been taking down a lot of stuff from my Spotify due to me being stupid, so I am going to work on updating that and rereleasing them but making them better…
I really want to aim to have my album out by March or late February… We’ll see what happens, I have been playing way too much Minecraft, so I have to stop now lol…
I’ve been reading all of the comments, I totally understand, I havn’t made music the same as I did in 2021… It’s difficult to really recreate that vibe, So I am hopping that this vibe can come close.
I don’t feel comfortable writing about violence or bad vibes like I did before, but I understand the punch and the energy of the music that made it so appealing back then.
I have been trying to produce one track a week. I do produce most of my beats, unless I buy them from someone I like. I have a mix engineer who I have been collaborating with, they make everything sound loud and good.
Lifes been great as well, just came back from a vacation that I went on with my boyfriend to San Diego. I like california, but I also like Chicago. There is so much swag here in Chicago. I
don’t know what I am going to do with my life. I have a degree that I didn’t need to begin with, I don’t want to work in a chair my entire life. I don’t care if I have to go into the trades to make money… There’s also money in music. So why don’t I start making money in music? Because I have conditioned my entire mindset to believe that it doesn’t make any money, when in fact it does…
I am waiting on the photos from a photoshoot. I want to do more now. So much to do! What will I do?
I don’t know, guess I’ll get back to Minecraft.
No I won’t… because I must blog more. I havn’t done this in so long, I don’t even know what to talk about anymore.
All musicians have this mindset, I am not sure if it is the mindset that makes us who we are, or if it’s what’s been instilled into ourselves because of this grind.
As a musician, you will feel as if your work is never done… because it truly isn’t. First you have to make a song that people like. Then, you have to make a song that people will play over and over again until they are sick of it. Then, people will want more and that is awesome, It is always good to leave them wanting more.
Then, you will feel compelled to release every month at the minimum. For me, I have decided that my musical process is super super gatekept. I make the beats, and if I like a beat enough I will buy it from someone. I honestly barely ever use beats that are emailed to me because I need a track to have a personal feel.
I need my tracks all to be personal, so Dropcat and I work together to make it sound really good. Then, I need to get the art and I have no idea what direction my art should go so I usually consult someone.
Making the product is costly, it doesn’t need to be but I believe in paying people. I don’t need to hire people for my work all of the time, but I like the outcome.
I am picky, but also sometimes I am not. Sometimes I make so much music, that it is all over the place. It is hard to really like the music once I move on from the project, unless I am in a good mental space for it.
Tell me, why are artists so self critical? Is it because we are self absorbed in our work? I don’t know. This is now my job now even though it doesn’t pay the bills. What job ever truly pays the bills anymore?
Why do people have to take up so many jobs? Sometimes I wonder if I am doing to right things in life, but as long as my music keeps paying for itself, I will feel like I have done a good job. Just have to keep going.
