Hometown and New Demo – 9/29/23

First things first, T H A N K Y O U !!! For all of the support and feedback on this album. I love hearing everything you guys have to say about it. Thank you for being loyal to my art, I cannot thank you enough. I just released this demo which I think is really cool… I completed this piece about a year ago, then sent it to Dropcat to be remixed… That was our first interaction working together. He sent it back to me with the Party Version, which was released on the album. WOW all these projects… I love this.

I went back to my hometown again. There are always new perspectives to have when coming here. I love Dearborn and Detroit, I want to spend more time here. It’s so beautiful in Michigan, everyone who lives outside of the state agrees with that… But when you come to Michigan and ask about it’s beautty, you’ll hear mixed results from who you talk to. I feel like it’s easy to get so used to a place like this and disregard how rare it is.

Here is a picture I took two years ago, I don’t have the SD card reader to import new pictures from my camera from what Dearborn is looking like this fall… But I planned on taking a run over to the Henry Ford House (it’s literally his house in the woods) and snapping a few pictures for you there. Growing up, I always enjoyed going to his actual house.

Here’s an old picture of me hanging out in a tunnel. I miss this blonde hair, I was really well taken care of when I lived in Michigan, It’s because personal services like haircuts and nail appointments are so cheap.

Here’s a picture I took a while ago of someone’s yard, I liked the angel statue peeking through the elaborate white fence. It’s the small details like this that make me so drawn to the landscapes of my neighborhood. I feel like I talk about Dearborn too much, but when you choose to leave a place behind that you love, you can’t help but to feel drawn to it still. At least that’s my experience.

Here’s a picture I took in Detroit at Trumbullplex. When I am away from this city, I feel more and more like a stranger. I love Chicago, I love that there are people who come to Chicago from all over who can relate to my experience. For some reason or another, we chose to leave a place where we knew everybody; a place we have known for a decade or two. It doesn’t make sense to me sometimes, then I remember why I moved, to seek more opportunities in Entertainment.

But there are entertainment opportunities in Detroit, that’s the thing. I can watch from a distance now, but I still feel the pull. A similar pull to what brought me to Chicago. Now that I am so close to graduating, I want to go back to Michigan… but I won’t, so maybe I’ll settle somewhere in between. I always feel like I need to keep moving, it’s very difficult for me to stay in one place sometimes.

Once in a while, I’ll need a means to experience something open and familiar. I come back a lot, I am learning so much about myself and my family history. Every time I come here I drink 5 cups of coffee a day. I just finished cup two while writing this.
